Players Code of Conduct

Players' Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to be positive about my youth sports experience and accept responsibility for my participation by following this Players' Code of Ethics Pledge.

Code of Conduct

Respect for Others/Harassment

  • I will treat my coaches, other players, officials, and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or abilities and I will expect to be treated accordingly.
  • I understand that soccer is a team sport and I am a part of my team.
  • I will do my very best and listen and learn from my coaches.
  • I will play hard and study hard but my school work comes before soccer.
  • I will do my best to participate in every game and every practice. If something prevents me from taking part I will let my coach/manager know as soon as possible.
  • I will arrive at practices and games 30 mins before the kick-off/start time (or as instructed by my coach). I will use this time to be sure I am correctly dressed and be prepared mentally and physically for the practices or game.
  • I understand that in order to play league or tournament games I must attend practices.
  • I understand that it is nice to win but it is more important that I always play to the best of my ability.
  • I will be gracious no matter whether we win, lose or draw.
  • I will remember that winning isn’t everything - that having fun, improving skills, working hard, making friends and doing my best are more important.
  • I will always behave appropriately especially when I am with my team because I represent my team and Bedford Soccer Association.
    • BSA does not allow discriminatory practices and is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect.
    • Disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist remarks or actions are not appropriate behavior. Respect for team mates, coaches, and officials, opposing team members, staff and their families all falls within the requirements for respectful behavior.
    • Players must abide by the CSA harassment policy. Harassment is improper behavior related to one or more prohibited grounds that are offensive and which the person knew, or ought to reasonably have known would be inappropriate or unwelcome. The behavior can be verbal or physical and can occur on a one-time, repeated, or continuous basis.
    • A person does not have to intend to harass for the behavior to be harassment. Harassment can take many forms but generally involves conduct, comment or display that is insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, demeaning, belittling malicious, degrading or/can otherwise cause offence, discomfort, or personal humiliation or embarrassment to a person or a group of persons.
    • When using social media, (Facebook, Twitter etc), I will respect the rights and confidentiality of others; not impersonate or falsely represent another person, not bully, intimidate, abuse, harass or threaten others (teammates, opponents, officials etc). I will not post content that is hateful, threatening, or incites violence against others, or post content that harms the reputation and good standing of BSA or those within its community.
    • Failure to abide by any of the code of conduct shall result in a review by the Bedford Soccer Association (BSA)'s disciplinary committee and may result in disciplinary actions from BSA.
